Kenya Power Announces Planned Power Interruptions in Several Counties on Monday

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2026, to allow for routine network maintenance and system upgrades.

The outages will affect parts of Murang’a, Makueni, Nakuru, Kericho, Nairobi, Kiambu and Nyeri counties, with most areas experiencing power interruptions between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., except where otherwise stated.

Murang’a and Makueni Counties

In Murang’a County, power will be interrupted in Kenol, Makuyu and Ithanga areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Kamahuha Dairy, Makuyu Town, Kenol Town, Kenol kwa DC, Kabati, Ndithini Mission, Assumption of Mary Ithanga, Ithanga Junction, Kakuzi Farm, Milaani Market, Muti Market, Matunda, Mananja, Methi, Progas, AAA Growers and surrounding customers.

In Makueni County, the interruption will affect Salama and surrounding areas during the same period. Areas listed include Sultan, Kiu, Kiongweni, Kalimbini, Salama, Malili, Malili kwa DC, Ulu, Mavivye, Nunguni, Kikoko, Musalala, Kyambeke, Kavatanzou, Kalongo and adjacent customers.

Nakuru and Kericho Counties

In Nakuru County, electricity will be unavailable in Olenguruone and Kireng’et from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The interruption will affect Olenguruone Market, Kireng’et, Kiptangich Tea Factory, KTDA, Chemusian and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, parts of Bureti in Kericho County will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Bureti Tea Factory, Kabitung’u Secondary School, Tulwet Booster, Chomisia, Chelal Tea Factory, Chesamisiet Primary School, Korara, Ngoina and surrounding customers.

Nairobi and Kiambu Counties

In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted in parts of Mowlem and Tononoka between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

In Kiambu County, outages will affect White Sisters, Mpesa Foundation and surrounding areas during the same hours. The affected locations include Kilimambogo Millers, areas behind TIBS, White Sisters, parts of Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa Market, Magumu, Gakui Shopping Centre, Ndula Market, Chui Rapid Kilimambogo TTC, Ngoliba Market, Magogoni Market, Gateiguru, Kenchick, Kiboko Farm, parts of Delmonte, Makutano kwa DC, Rubiru, Macvast, Iembeni, Gituamba Police Station, Helena Quarry, Kahonoki, WB Quarry, Total Petrol Station near Bidco, Muka Mukuu Substation, Ndula Substation and Donyo Sabuk Market.

Nyeri County

In Nyeri County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Skuta, Meeting Point and Thunguma from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas affected include Swahili Village, St. Jude, Meeting Point, County Assembly of Nyeri, Beatrice Court, Owalo Place, Immaculate Hospital, PCEA Ruring’u, Rubis Skuta, Skuta Ibauini, Green Edges, Galana Petrol Station, Kagayu, Thunguma Market and schools, Thunguma Poultry, Thunguma Village and adjacent customers.
