Kenya Power has announced planned electricity supply interruptions in several regions on Monday, February 23, 2026, to facilitate routine network maintenance and system upgrades.
The scheduled maintenance will affect parts of Nairobi, Migori, Makueni, Kiambu and Nyeri counties between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
Nairobi and Makueni counties
In Nairobi Region, parts of Nairobi North will experience power interruption in sections of Runda from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include parts of Northern Bypass, Eliud Mathu, Mae Ridge, Runda Mumwe, Eagles Park, Runda Riviera, Glee Hotel, Fiesta, Mimosa Ridge, Annex, Runda Kigwaru and Pan African Insurance Havana, as well as adjacent customers.
In Makueni County, the outage will affect parts of Emali during the same hours. Areas listed include parts of Emali Town, Kindu Mall, KCB Emali, Shell and RUBIS petrol stations, Kilome Maternity, Nursing Home, Best Care Hospital, Emali Model Hospital, Lukenya College and neighbouring customers.
Kiambu and Nyeri counties
Under the North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County will be affected in Wanugu Market and Gitwe areas. The scheduled outage will impact Karatu Market, Mururia High School, Mutunguru High School, Wanugu Market, Ndarugu Tea Factory, Kirangi Market, Karinga High School, Ituramiro Market, Gitwe Market, Kamutua High School, Gaitete Market, Cununuki, Gacharage Market, Kibiru High School, Roi Market, Kagunyi Market and surrounding customers.
In the Mt. Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County will experience power interruption in Almasi and King’ong’o Prison areas. Affected locations include Almasi, King’ong’o Primary School, Nyeri Primary School, Autospin Garage, King’ong’o Shopping Centre, Garden Estate, Good Shepherd Academy, King’ong’o Prison, Siel Secondary Market, Road Map Secondary Market and adjacent customers.
Migori county
In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Migori County will also be affected. In Sare and Bonde areas, customers including Sare SDA, Bonde School, Otithi School and adjacent premises will experience outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Additionally, in Rinya area, Siany Primary School, Rinya Market and surrounding customers will be without power during the same period.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the maintenance period. The company noted that the planned works are part of ongoing efforts to enhance reliability, improve network stability and ensure efficient power distribution across the country.
