Kenya Power has issued a notice of scheduled electricity interruptions set to affect parts of Nairobi, Mt. Kenya, and Western regions on Friday, March 27, 2026, as part of ongoing maintenance aimed at improving service delivery and network reliability.
Nairobi Region to Experience Day-Long Outages
In Nairobi, several areas within the West and North zones will be affected by power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In Nairobi West, the outage will impact Riverside Drive, Chiromo Campus, and surrounding areas. Key locations expected to experience disruptions include Kolobot Drive, Arboretum Road, Riverside Gardens, University of Nairobi facilities such as Chiromo Campus hostels and mortuary, as well as Waiyaki Way sections near Prime Bank Riverside. Additional affected areas include Kileleshwa, Taj View Apartments, Confucius Institute, Delta Riverside, and Metropolitan Estate.
Meanwhile, in Nairobi North, the interruption will affect Gachie and its environs, including Red Hill Road, Nyari Estate, Thigiri Farm, and Thigiri Ridge.
Mt. Kenya Region: Nyeri County Areas Affected
In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will also face power interruptions during the same hours.
Areas around Gatitu, Kagumo, and Sugarbaker will be affected, including key establishments such as Sugarbaker facilities, Senior Wambugu Hotel, Michuki area, Gatitu Market, Meskins Dairies, Kihoro Forest, and Kagumo Teachers College.
Additionally, Kirimara and Le-Prestine areas will experience outages, with affected locations including Karuna Village, Karuna Water Project, and surrounding customers.
Western Region: Kisumu County Not Spared
In the Western region, parts of Kisumu County will also be impacted. The outage will affect areas around Grand Royal Switz Hotel, including Farm Engineering, Kiboswa, KAPCO PRI, Bukna, and Balance Park Hotel.
Maintenance Aimed at Improving Reliability
Kenya Power stated that the scheduled maintenance is necessary to facilitate system upgrades and ensure a more stable and efficient electricity supply.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions, including unplugging electrical appliances to prevent damage when power is restored.
The utility company reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing power reliability across the country through continuous infrastructure maintenance and upgrades.
