Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced scheduled electricity interruptions set to affect parts of Nairobi and Tharaka Nithi counties on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as part of routine system maintenance.
In a notice issued to customers, the utility firm said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance works, upgrade power lines, and improve overall reliability of electricity supply.
“Kindly note that the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow,” Kenya Power said, urging customers to plan accordingly.
Nairobi County: Kitsuru Area
Residents in parts of Kitsuru will experience a full-day power interruption.
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Areas affected: Entire Kitsuru Road and adjacent customers
The maintenance is expected to impact households, businesses, and institutions within the area for the better part of the day.
Tharaka Nithi County: Multiple Areas Affected
In Tharaka Nithi County, two key zones will experience outages during the day:
Magundu and Ndumbini Markets
- Time: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Areas affected: Magundu Market, Magundu Village, Matinia Market, Nkururu Primary, Kathangawe Primary, Ndumbini Primary, Kaaganjo Primary, Muragara Secondary, Igangara Secondary, and nearby customers
Tungu Factory and Ntutuni Catholic Area
- Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Areas affected: Tungu Factory, Ntutuni Catholic Church, and surrounding areas

Kenya Power noted that such planned outages are essential for maintaining and upgrading the national grid, connecting new customers, and replacing aging infrastructure.
