Kenya Power announces planned power interruption in Nairobi’s Thigiri Area, today

Date:

Residents and businesses in parts of Nairobi’s Thigiri area should brace for a scheduled power interruption on Friday, May 1, 2026, as Kenya Power undertakes routine maintenance on its electricity network.

In a public notice, the utility company said the outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting several locations within the upscale neighbourhood.

Areas Affected

The planned interruption will impact customers along:

  • Thigiri Ridge Road
  • Thigiri Close
  • Thigiri Crescent
  • Thigiri Gardens
  • And adjacent areas

Kenya Power noted that the maintenance work is necessary to improve service reliability and ensure stable power supply in the affected zones.

Purpose of the Maintenance

The company said the scheduled outage is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and system maintenance aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing unplanned blackouts.

Such routine works often include network repairs, replacement of ageing equipment, and upgrading of distribution lines.

Advisory to Customers

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.

Kenya Power also reminded the public to treat all power lines as live during the maintenance window, even if electricity appears to be off.
