Kenya Power announces planned maintenance in Nairobi and seven regions Thursday, 26th

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in several parts of the country on Thursday, February 26, 2026, as part of routine system maintenance.

In a notice issued Wednesday evening, the utility company said the planned works will affect parts of Nairobi, Central Rift, North Rift, South Nyanza, Mount Kenya and North Eastern regions at different times during the day.

The interruptions are expected to allow technical teams to carry out upgrades and network improvements aimed at stabilising supply and enhancing reliability.

Nairobi areas to be affected

In the Nairobi Region, electricity will be interrupted from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in parts of Lang’ata and Kibera. Areas set to experience outages include Raila Estate, Soweto Academy, Olympic Estate, Kianda, Gatwekera, Fort Jesus, NHC, Karanja Road, Makina, Kibera Law Courts, Kibera Primary, Royal Park, Sunvalley Estate, KMA, Ngei Phase 2, Moi Otiende Estate, Lang’ata Police Station and Nairobi Women’s Prison, among others.

Parts of Runda will also be affected between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., including Baobab Street, Bombax, Runda Meadows, Doum Street, sections of Ruaka Road, Acacia Drive, Frame Tree and Tala Road.

In South B and around KIMC, the outage will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting South B Shopping Centre, Balozi Estate, Mater Hospital, Mariakani Estate, Daidai Road, Kapiti Road, sections of Golden Gate Estate, Highway Secondary School, Elimu Sacco, South B Police Station, KIMC, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and nearby customers.

Outages in Rift Valley and Nyanza

In the Central Rift Region, parts of Kenegut in Kericho County will be without power from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Areas affected include Torsogek Dispensary, Kiboybei Primary, Kosisit Primary, Kenegut Market, Cheplel and Noah Too.

In the North Rift Region, sections of Uasin Gishu County — including Ndupeneti and Ngeria Water — will experience power interruptions from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Ngara Falls, Legebet, Ngeria Girls, Koros Secondary School, Tegut, Kapng’etuny, Ndupeneti and Belkenya.

Meanwhile, in Migori County under the South Nyanza Region, parts of Got Kachola will be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Got Kachola Booster, Nyangere, Matoso and Othora.

Mount Kenya and Kiambu Counties

In the Mount Kenya Region, parts of Embu County — specifically Ishiara and Karerema — will face outages between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Karangare Secondary School, Monge, Kigwambiti Secondary, Kianjeru Secondary, Kanyuieri Secondary, KETRACO Kyenire, Gikomba Market, Murangu Primary, Ciangera, Ngoce Secondary, Kabubua ka Nyama Market, Mugwanjogu Secondary, Munthathara, Mbaraga Primary, Kamutu Secondary and Kamarandi.

Parts of Murang’a County, including Kagaa and Thangari, will also be affected during the same hours. In Nyeri County, Othaya Boys and Waihara areas will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Othaya Coffee Millers, Gathumbi Market, Kairuthi Market, Iriani Market, Iriani Girls, Thunguri Market, Gathunguri, Waihara Market, Kabebero Market and Kihuri Market.

In the North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County — including Gatunyaga and Landless — will be affected between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Kisii Estate, Thika Barracks, MKU Pavilion, Landless Estate, Muguga Market, Gatunyaga Market, Gatunyaga Primary, parts of Makongeni, St. Mulumba Catholic Church, Makongeni Police Station, KCB Makongeni, Carter Oakhill School and Glorious Fountain Academy.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.
