Kenya Power announces planned outages across multiple regions on May 7

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance in several parts of Nairobi on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Nairobi Region

In Eastleigh, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas around 5th Street, Nasiye Restaurant, Madina Guest House, Domo Plaza and nearby customers.

The Karen area will also face outages within the same timeframe, with affected locations including parts of Karen Road, Karen Country Club, Karen Triangle, Lower Plains Road, Marist University, Karen Hospital, Ndege Road and surrounding estates.


Kiambu Areas Affected

In Kiambu County, Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance in Kanunga and Kasphat from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas set to be affected include Kanunga, Ngegu, Torito, Kasphat, Ibonia, Kiamara, Kiratina and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kahawa Wendani will also experience power interruptions during the same hours. The outage will impact Maguna Supermarket, Wendani Police Station, Clean Shelf, Royal Homes, Kahawa Downs, Alvo and nearby areas.


Mt. Kenya Region: Nyeri and Embu Counties

In Nyeri County, areas around Mweiga Blooms and Kamatongu will experience power cuts from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The outage will affect Mweiga Blooms, Kamatongu, General Karangi Beef Factory, Samaki, Mwireri, Honi Resort, Muthinga Restaurant and nearby customers.

Meanwhile, in Embu County, electricity will be unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in areas including Kirie, Kathanje and Karambari. Other affected locations include Kamugu Market, Ithiira Market, Karamabri, Kadamba, Mukororai Market, Kathanje Market, Kivuebase, Gangara and Michegethio Market.


Advisory to Customers

Kenya Power said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades to the electricity network.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the interruption period.
