Kenya Power announces planned outages in Nairobi, Bomet, and Nandi, today

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions affecting parts of Nairobi, Bomet, and Nandi counties as maintenance works get underway.

In a notice issued to customers, the utility company said the scheduled outages are necessary to facilitate network upgrades and ensure reliable electricity supply.

Nairobi West to face full-day outage

Residents and businesses in Nairobi West will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Msufu Road, Sumba Road, Naime Road, and sections along Mombasa Road near ICC Church. Other locations listed are PAA Crescent, Kifaru Crescent, Swara Crescent, Ghandi Avenue, and Kisauni Road.

Key institutions and landmarks such as Nairobi West Hospital, Nyayo Stadium, Strathmore University, and Lang’ata Technical College will also be affected, alongside Madaraka Estate, Siwaka, and surrounding areas.

Parts of Bomet County affected

In Bomet County, areas within Sotik will also experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected locations include Gorgor, Gelegele, Abosi, Kapchumbe, Njiship Market, and Shartuka Market, along with nearby customers.

Nandi County interruptions

In Nandi County, parts of Kaimosi and Chepkumia will be without electricity from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include Kiborgok, Yala, Chepsonoi, Kaimosi Tea Factory, Kaimosi Bible College, Chepkumia Tea Factory, Sirwo, and Tindinyo.

Maintenance aimed at improving supply

Kenya Power noted that the interruptions are part of routine system maintenance and upgrades aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing unplanned outages.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.
