Kenya Power announces scheduled power interruptions in several counties on Thursday 14th May 2026

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in several parts of the country on Thursday, May 14, 2026, as the utility company undertakes routine maintenance and network upgrades.

The planned outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri counties for several hours during the day.

Nairobi Areas to Experience Power Cuts

In the Nairobi region, areas in South B, Karen, Kileleshwa, and Spring Valley are expected to be affected.

The interruption in parts of South B will run from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will affect areas including South B Chief’s Camp, Bondo Road, Hazina Estate, Plains View Estate, Golden Gate Estate, Railway Training Institute, and surrounding customers.

In Karen, electricity will be unavailable between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. in areas such as Karen the Hub, Tree Lane, Windy Ridge, Karen Police, Karen Lane, Miotoni West, and nearby estates.

Parts of Kileleshwa, particularly around Gatundu Road and Gatundu Close, will also experience outages during the same period.

Meanwhile, in Spring Valley, residents around Thigiri Ridge Road, Thigiri Crescent, and Thigiri Gardens will be affected by the planned maintenance exercise.

Kiambu, Nakuru Among Counties Affected

In Kiambu County, the outage will affect areas around Ruiru Kimbo and Murera Coffee from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The affected locations include Murera Kimbo, Mugutha, Spur Mall area, Ruiru Golf Club, Mugutha Police, Mona Park, Makaburi Village, and adjacent customers.

Other parts of Kiambu, including Ondiri and Mugumoini, will also experience interruptions affecting institutions and businesses such as KARI Muguga, KETRI, Ondiri Police, and nearby shopping centres.

In Nakuru County, areas around Kayole A will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

The blackout will affect Kayole, Sanel Mall, Keroch Breweries, Roka Industries, Bonanza, Soweto, and surrounding areas.

Mt Kenya Region Also Listed

Kenya Power also announced outages in parts of Kirinyaga and Nyeri counties.

In Kirinyaga County, areas around Kibingoti Market and Kibirigwi Market will experience power cuts between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Affected areas include Karima Village, Kiangwaci Market, Ndia Technical, Kiine Girls, Fred’s Grammar, Kairini Village, and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, the interruption will affect Endarasha Market and Charity areas, including Uasonyiro, Mairo, Endarasha Secondary School, Watuka Market, and nearby customers.

Kenya Power said the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance works and improve reliability of electricity supply.

The company has advised affected customers to plan accordingly during the interruption period.
