Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity maintenance across multiple counties on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade power lines, connect new customers and enhance network reliability.
The planned outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kisii, West Pokot and Nandi counties.
Most areas will experience power interruptions between 9.00am and 5.00pm, with a few locations having slight variations in timing.
Nairobi and Kiambu Counties
In Nairobi County, parts of Kamukunji and Mathare will be affected from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Areas in Kamukunji include Jua Kali, Shauri Moyo, Muthurwa, parts of Gikomba, Gikomba Social Hall, DO’s Office Gikomba, Family Bank Gikomba, Co-op Bank Gikomba, BBS Mall, Shell Petrol Station, Ismariot Hotel, Nomad Hotel, Eastleigh High School, Pumwani Boys, Starehe Boys Centre, parts of General Waruinge Road and adjacent customers.
Parts of Mathare and surrounding customers will also be without power during the same hours.
In Kiambu County, electricity will be interrupted in parts of Rironi and Thamanda, including Kagia, Kanduma, Ngecha, Gitangu, Kerwa, Muguga, Gatone, Kamuguga, Universal and Zambezi.
Additional areas in Kiambaa, including Kiambaa Market, Wagutu, Kiambaa Primary and Secondary Schools, Senior Chief Koinange High School, Willopark Apartments, Mugumo-ini Primary School, Raini Water Pump and Valentine Growers, will also be affected between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
Mt. Kenya and Eastern Region
In Nyeri County, power will be interrupted in Kamune, Geitwa and Iruri areas. Affected locations include Kamune Market, Geitwa Market, Iruri Market, Riakiberu, Kaharo, Githanga Dispensary, Githanga Secondary School, Karugiro, Wambugu Mucheru and Gaithunu.
In Kirinyaga County, the outage will affect Kagio Town and Kandongu, including Kahiro Village, Kinyaga Village, Kianjogu Village, Kiamikuyu Village and Gitooni Village.
Parts of Tharaka Nithi County, specifically Ciakariga and Marimanti Prison area, will experience power interruption from 8.30am to 5.00pm. Areas affected include Kewi, Ciakariga Market, Marimanti Prison, Marimanti Mortuary and Kaari Sheep and Goat area.
Coast Region
In Mombasa County, power maintenance will affect the Serena Area and Pangoni, including Shanzu Market, Pride Inn Flamingo, Safari Club, Kenya Navy Communication Base, Shaza, Kilua Dolphin Hotel and adjacent customers.
Parts of Kilifi County, including Malindi Town and Kisumu Ndogo, will also experience outages. Affected areas include Naivas Junction, Malindi Products, Serena, Ndugu Mnani, Alaska, Malindi BP, CM Steel, Furunzi and Ganda Primary School.
In Taita Taveta County, the outage will cover Bachuma area, including Bachuma Livestock, Manyatta and Miasenyi.
Parts of Kwale County, specifically Msambweni and Lungalunga, including Shimoni, Shimba Hills, KMTC, Kenya Navy, Kanana and Mwangulu, will also be affected.
All Coast region outages are scheduled from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Western and North Rift Regions
In Kisii County, parts of Magena and Nyangusu will be without electricity between 9.00am and 5.00pm. Areas affected include Magena Market, Getai Primary School, Nyangusu, Bendere, Kenyoro, Ritembu, Rianyachabera, Magena Boys, Riobonyo, St. Theresa Secondary School and Oganda.
In West Pokot County, parts of Kamatira Primary and Kanisa Mbili areas will experience outages during the same hours. Locations include Karas, Safari Hotel, Cheptabesia, Kaprom, Leunon, Kapkoris and Emboasis.
In Nandi County, Tulon area will be affected from 9.30am to 5.30pm, including Tulon Corner and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.
The utility company conducts routine maintenance to improve service reliability, upgrade infrastructure and connect new customers to the national grid.
Electricity supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the scheduled works.
