Kenya Power announces scheduled maintenance in several region-Friday 30th 2026

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power maintenance affecting parts of Nairobi, Nyeri, Kisumu, Kisii, and Migori counties today, Friday, January 30, 2026.

The utility company said the planned outages are necessary to allow for routine network maintenance and system upgrades, warning customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly.

Nairobi Region

In the Nairobi Region, parts of Nairobi West will experience power interruptions.

Affected areas include Waithaka, parts of Kikuyu Road, Ngina Road, Waithaka DO’s Office, Mukarrara Primary School, Dagoretti High School, Maono, Nairobi Women’s Hospital College, Ruthimitu Primary School, Kagira, Muhuri Road, Border Post, Gichungo, Kagondo, Kiuru, and adjacent customers.

The outage is scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Mt. Kenya Region

In the Mt. Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County will be affected.

Areas set to experience power interruptions include Muthinga, Kangaita, Gichira, Kiriko, Eucabeth, Kanderendu, Gondo, Mirichu, Kiangacha, and surrounding areas.

The interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Western Region

In the Western Region, parts of Kisumu County will be affected.

Areas include Othoo Market, Ngere, Kagoro Market, Ombeyi Market, Nyakoko Secondary School, Masogo Market, and adjacent customers.

The power interruption in this region will last from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

South Nyanza Region

In Kisii County, power interruptions will affect parts of Keroka and Nyanturago.

Affected areas include Keroka Hilltop Hotel, St. Charles Lwanga Ichuni Girls, St. James Ichuni Secondary School, Keroka Technical Training College, Nyanturago Secondary School, Nyamasibi Market, Masisi Secondary School, Abuga Hotel, Matibo Secondary School, Hema Chitago Secondary School, Nyamagesa Secondary School, and nearby customers.

The outage is scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, parts of Migori County, specifically Thimlich, Nyaroya, and Ongora, will also experience power interruptions between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Kenya Power Advisory

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period and to make alternative arrangements where necessary.

Customers can access Kenya Power services through the *977# USSD code or contact the company’s customer care channels for further assistance.
