Morara Kebaso abandons Inject Party, declares support for Jubilee ahead of 2027 polls

Date:

Political activist Morara Kebaso has announced that he will contest the Borabu parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in the 2027 General Election after shelving his own political outfit, the Inject Party.

The announcement marks a significant political shift for the activist, who said aligning himself with Jubilee was a strategic decision informed by the political landscape in the Gusii region.

Inject Party put on hold

Speaking during an interview on Monday, June 29, Morara said the Inject Party would be suspended for now as he works with Jubilee, a party he believes enjoys strong grassroots support in his home region.

He explained that political success requires recognising local realities rather than insisting on a new political vehicle that voters may not readily embrace.

“The Inject Party will be put on the shelf. For now, we are working with Fred Okengo Matiang’i’s Jubilee Party,” Morara said.

According to him, Jubilee remains the dominant political party in Borabu and the wider Gusii region, making it the most viable platform for advancing his political agenda.

“I joined Jubilee because we have to embrace the realities on the ground. In Borabu and the entire Gusii region, you cannot mention another party. People simply won’t accept it, and you don’t want to make them emotional because they will not listen to the message you have,” he added.

Eyes set on Borabu parliamentary seat

Morara confirmed that he will challenge for the Borabu parliamentary seat in the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that his campaign will be driven by ideas rather than financial influence.

He said he intends to focus on issue-based politics and believes voters will judge candidates based on their vision and leadership instead of campaign spending.

“I am going to win people over with ideas and my message. I won’t even try to compete with anyone handing out money. If people want to give out money, let them do so. We will count the votes after the election,” he said.

Morara further expressed optimism about his chances, stating that he is confident of emerging victorious at the polls.

Criticism of incumbent MP

In recent weeks, Morara has intensified criticism of the incumbent Borabu Member of Parliament, Patrick Osero, accusing him of mismanaging resources allocated through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

The criticism has heightened political tensions in the constituency as campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election gradually gather momentum.

Funeral confrontation

The rivalry was evident during a funeral in Borabu on Friday, June 26, where a confrontation briefly disrupted proceedings.

While addressing mourners, Morara was interrupted after individuals believed to be supporters of the area MP reportedly grabbed his microphone, halting his speech.

The incident quickly escalated before members of Morara’s security team intervened, restoring calm and allowing the event to continue.

The latest developments signal an increasingly competitive political contest in Borabu as prospective candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
