Ruto’s big message to UDA Party grassroot officials

Date:

President William Ruto is keenly crafting his re-election message around development initiatives his administration is advancing.

Ruto is building a strong grassroot network that will come in handy in explaining to Kenyans why the Kenya Kwanza administration deserves another term.

On Monday while meeting top officials of the party in State House, Ruto elaborately had a manifesto of his coalition revised and status of development initiatives he’s executing explored.

They president is looking forward to strengthen the his United Democratic Alliance Party through grassroots elections ahead of the 2027 election contest that is poised to be knife edge.

Last week, the president’s party announced repeat grassroots elections in select polling centres across the country following resolutions by the party’s top organs.

In a notice dated January 21, 2026, the UDA National Elections Board said the decision was reached after deliberations by the National Executive Committee and the Elections and Nominations Dispute Resolution Committee over the recently concluded grassroots polls.

According to the notice, the party will conduct repeat elections for Phase III on March 7, 2026, and Phase II on March 28, 2026. The exercise will take place in select polling centres across the 42 counties.

“The Committee resolved that the Party shall conduct repeat elections in SELECT polling centres across the 42 counties,” the notice reads.

The National Elections Board said the respective polling centres affected by the repeat exercise have been detailed on the party’s online portal.

The registration period for the repeat Phase II and Phase III grassroots elections opened on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and will close on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The notice clarifies that party members who were aspirants in the earlier exercise do not need to register again. However, new aspirants are required to register within the new timeline.

It is in this regard that Ruto reiterated his commitment to moving Kenya into a first-world country and that the government is working towards laying a strong foundation towards achieving this goal.

Speaking at the State House in Nairobi on Monday, January 26, 2026, while chairing the UDA National Governing Council meeting, he challenged the opposition to present their scorecard and tell the nation what plan they have for bettering the lives of Kenyans, were they to be elected

“Our commitment to moving Kenya to a first-world economy is on a solid foundation. We challenge our competition to present their scorecard and disclose to Kenyans what better plan they have in making our country better, “said Ruto.

During the delegates’ meeting, Ruto said that the government programs in place and being implemented in line with the manifesto that the UDA party gave during the campaign period.

In the 2022 UDA manifesto, we made a commitment to the people of Kenya to transform our country and their lives by investing in agriculture, making affordable credit accessible, creating millions of jobs, and implementing universal healthcare, among others,” Ruto added.

He disputed the naysayers, saying that the project in place by his administration, including the universal health coverage, affordable housing, and other infrastructural projects have proved to be working.

However, the United Opposition has opposed these projects, terming them not viable and misplaced.

Ruto’s sentiments come at a time when the united opposition side and leaders opposed to the government side have been disputing his statement about taking Kenya’s economy to the level of Singapore. A country known to have an economic muscle with rapid growth.
