Kenya Power plans scheduled power interruptions in Nairobi, Rift Valley and Western regions

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Kisumu counties on Thursday, February 5, 2026, to allow for routine network maintenance and system upgrades.

The utility company said the interruptions are part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability and enhance power supply across affected regions.

Nairobi and Kajiado Counties

In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted in Umoja 2 from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. Areas affected include Peter Kibukosya Secondary and Primary School, Mwangaza Nursery School, Mugumo Nursery School, Umoja 2 Market, 2 Simba Day Nursery, and adjacent customers.

Another outage will affect Nasra Estate, Bee Centre, Sosion Estate and parts of Kayole Spine Road from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Customers in areas such as Mama Lucy Hospital, Naivas Supermarket, Bee Centre, Shell Petrol Station, Sosion Estate and Shujaa Mall are among those expected to be affected.

In Kajiado County, Kenya Power said electricity supply will be interrupted along the Nazareen Ex Matasia feeder from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas to be affected include Rimpa, Balozi, Ongata Royal Academy, Kandisi Police Station, Kandisi Catholic Church, Metropolitan, Kambi Moto, Rangau and surrounding customers.

North Rift and Western Regions

In the North Rift region, parts of Uasin Gishu County, including Ziwa Center, Ziwa Machine, Segero and Makongi Farm, will experience power interruptions from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected areas include Kabenes, Maji Mazuri, Richo Kapsang, Segero and nearby customers.

Meanwhile, Kabongwa area in Nandi County will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., affecting Kabongwa and adjacent areas.

In the Western region, Kenya Power said power will be interrupted in Songhor area, Kisumu County, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include Songhor Market, Songhor RDU, Onenonam and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and apologised for the inconvenience caused, noting that power will be restored once maintenance works are completed.
