Kenya Power has announced planned electricity supply interruptions across several regions of the country on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance and network upgrades.
The power distributor said the scheduled works are aimed at improving reliability, enhancing service delivery and connecting new customers to the grid. The outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Mt. Kenya, Coast, North Eastern and South Nyanza regions between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the location.
Nairobi Region
In Ngara, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Pioneer University, Guru Nanak Hospital, Pangani Girls, Pangani Police, Radiant Hospital, Fairview Road, North View Road, Muratina Street, Jam Street and adjacent areas.
Parts of Lang’ata and Karen will also experience outages during the same hours. Areas affected include Banda, parts of Magadi Road, Kisembe Road, Safe Park, Parkview, KWS, Brooke House, Catholic University, Apostle of Jesus, Bogani East, St. Aquinas Seminary, Icolo and neighbouring customers.
In Makueni County, areas around Makindu and Kibwezi will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Makindu Market, Kiundwani, Mbuinzau, Kibwezi, Kinyambu, Machinery, Kambu, Lukenya University, Mtito Andei, Kisayani, Ikutha, Mutomo and Mutha.
Mt. Kenya Region
In Nyeri County, parts of Kiru, Gatunguru and Kihoya will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas affected include Gatunguru Tea Factory, Kiru Tea Factory, Mioro Market, Kihoya Market, Wanjere, Nyagatugu, Kiawambogo, Kirimahiga Coffee Factory, Gacharageini Market, Kiriti Girls, Muthangari, Kagongo, Magomano, Miereini, Mathioya Water and adjacent customers.
In Kirinyaga County, the interruption will affect Beckham Hotel, Ithare-Ini Market, Kanguiyo Village, Kiangombe Market, Kiangwenyi Market and Kirigu Stage between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Parts of Tharaka Nithi County, including Giampampo, Ndagani and Chuka Boys areas, will experience outages from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In Laikipia County, areas around Likii, Kangaita and Kalalu including Nanyuki Law Courts, Nanyuki Police Station, Likii Farm, Kathera, Ontulili, Peaks Hotel, Tulaco Farm and 3 Rivers School will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Coast and North Eastern Regions
In Taita Taveta County, Manyani area including Devki Manga, Manyani Prisons and KWS Law Enforcement Academy will experience power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Parts of Kwale County in Ukunda Town, Kosovo, Mwabungo, ICIPE, Kona ya Musa and Mvindeni Market will also be affected during the same hours.
In the North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County will experience scheduled outages. Areas around Athena and Muthaiga including Oasis, Kona 1, 2 and 3, Kiangombe, Kimuchu Primary and Secondary Schools, Superfine Africa Nuts, Leerand School, Alternative Energy and G5 will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional affected areas in Kiambu include Acme Containers, Norbrook (K) Ltd, Kentmere Club Njiku, Laini Shopping Centre, Kimlea, Echuka, Mrs. Higgins, Rephalites, Tumaini School, Merellis Farm Gatuikira, St. Ruth School and Highwood Farm.
South Nyanza Region
In Kisii County, parts of Riana and Nyamira Ndogo including Riana Market and Riana Level 4 Hospital will experience interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In Nyamira County, Matunwa, Gesima and Mosobeti areas including Enchoro Royal Media, Motagara, Nyataro and Omwoyo will also be affected during the same hours.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the listed areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.
