Planned Kenya Power interruptions to affect several counties today

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in multiple regions across the country today as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity reliability.

The scheduled outages will affect parts of Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Kisii counties, with most areas expected to experience power cuts between morning and evening hours.

Nyeri County (Mt. Kenya Region)

In Nyeri County, power will be interrupted in Cocacola and King’ongo areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Kirimara, Gamerock Estate, Chania Village, Chania Secondary School, Mt. Kenya Junior and Senior School, Zawadi Estate, Murungaru, Kiganjo Coffee Plantation, King’ongo Prison, Nyeri Baptist, Garden Estate, Nyeri Inn, King’ongo Primary School, Nyeri Primary School, and surrounding areas.

Uasin Gishu County (North Rift Region)

In Uasin Gishu County, two separate outages have been scheduled:

  • Cheptabach area: Power will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., affecting Cheptabach, Center Kwanza, Sugoi, Kosachei, Mimosa, and nearby areas.
  • Soy, Likuyani, Nangili areas: Power interruption will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Soy, Likuyani, Nangili, Imbinga, Soy Sambu, Makokha Market, Mirembere, Sikulu, Sango, Kabobo, Silgich, Chemororoch, Mobett, Kisigame, Ivugwi, and adjacent customers.

Nandi County

In Nandi County, Chebarbar and surrounding areas will experience a power outage from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Kisii County (South Nyanza Region)

In Kisii County, power will be interrupted in Nyangweta, Etago, and Ekona areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Kenyenya Primary School, Nyangweta SDA Secondary School, Etago Market, Nyansembe, Nyakeiyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo, Maroo, and nearby locations.

Maintenance to enhance reliability

Kenya Power stated that the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate system upgrades and maintenance works aimed at enhancing service delivery and reducing unplanned outages.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
