Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale, Julius Ogamba, Ali Hassan Joho and others have announced new appointments and reappointments to various state boards across health, education, maritime, labour and regional development sectors.
The government has unveiled a fresh round of appointments and reappointments to several state corporations and development agencies, with Cabinet Secretaries making changes across strategic sectors including health, education, maritime affairs, labour, water, and regional development.
The appointments, published in Gazette Notices dated June 5, 2026, take immediate effect and are aimed at strengthening leadership and governance within public institutions.
New Faces Join Social Health Authority Board
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed Khatra Ali Abdi and Dr. Angeline Chepchirchir to serve as members of the Social Health Authority Board for a three-year term.
According to the Gazette Notice, the appointments replace previous board members appointed in 2025 and took effect on June 5, 2026.
The Social Health Authority plays a central role in implementing the country’s health insurance reforms and expanding access to affordable healthcare services.
Education Sector Records Leadership Changes
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba appointed George Ndung’u Thuku as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Council of Kiambu National Polytechnic.
Thuku will serve a three-year term, replacing Francis Kigo Njega whose appointment was revoked.
The Ministry of Education also announced the reappointment of Aden Sugow Ahmed, Lina Adikento Marleni, and Melus Lodungokiok as members of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin Development Authority Board for an additional one-year term.
Joho Retains Maritime Board Member
Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho reappointed Ali Abdalla Mondo to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Maritime Authority.
Mondo will continue serving on the board for another three years as the authority seeks to strengthen Kenya’s maritime sector and regional shipping competitiveness.
Regional Development Board Members Reappointed
East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul Moe renewed the appointments of several members of the Kerio Valley Development Authority Board.
Those reappointed for a one-year term include Justina Chepnyango, Reuben Chepsongol, Rosemary Nchinyei Parengiro, Christine Jepkoech, John Lanyasunya, Shadrack Kiptugen and Simon Kalekem.
Labour and Water Ministries Extend Board Tenures
Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua reappointed Samuel Biringi Mayaka to the National Industrial Training Board for a three-year term effective June 9, 2026.
Meanwhile, Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eric Muriithi Mugaa renewed the appointment of Mbarak Hamid to the Board of Directors of the Coast Water Works Development Agency for another three years.
The latest appointments form part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen institutional leadership and enhance service delivery across key sectors of the economy.
