Kenya Power announces planned electricity interruptions in Kisii, Nyeri and Meru counties today

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of Kisii, Nyeri and Meru counties on Monday, May 25, 2026, to allow for routine network maintenance works.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the utility company said the temporary outages are part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity reliability and maintain the power distribution network.

Kisii County Areas to Experience Outage

In Kisii County, the interruption will affect areas around St. Peter’s Primary School and Iruma from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include:

  • St. Peter’s Primary School
  • Iruma
  • Kisii Sewerage
  • Adjacent customers

Nyeri County Maintenance Schedule

In Nyeri County, the outage will affect areas around Ragati Tea Factory and Kagochi during the same period.

Areas listed by Kenya Power include:

  • Gatei TBC
  • Kiangengi
  • Ragati Tea Factory
  • Kagochi Market
  • Ragati Forest Station
  • Kianjiru-Ini TBC
  • Kiangengi Market
  • Safaricom Boosters
  • Airtel Boosters
  • Adjacent customers

Meru County Also Affected

Meanwhile, in Meru County, customers in areas around Imenti Tea Factory and Marimba will also experience electricity interruption between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

  • Kiangurwe
  • Uruku Prison
  • Kithirune Girls
  • Kithirune Market
  • Mworoge
  • Nduruma
  • Mbui Njeru

Kenya Power Apologises for Inconvenience

Kenya Power said the maintenance works are necessary to improve service delivery and strengthen the electricity distribution network in the affected regions.

The company advised customers to plan accordingly during the interruption period.
