Kenya Power announces planned power interruptions in six counties today, June 18

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity maintenance works that will affect several areas across seven counties on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The utility company said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and system improvements aimed at enhancing power reliability and service delivery.

The interruptions will run between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in some areas, while others will experience outages until 3:00 p.m.

Nairobi and Kiambu Areas to Experience Day-Long Outages

In Nairobi County, residents of parts of Spring Valley, including Kihara Road, Ngecha Road and surrounding areas, will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In neighboring Kiambu County, the outage will affect Sigona, Zambezi, Nderi, KARI Muguga, KETRI, Mugumoini, Kamangu Shopping Centre, Runana and adjacent customers during the same period.

Kenya Power noted that the maintenance works are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure in the region.

Kajiado, Kisii and Uasin Gishu Also Affected

In Kajiado County, customers in Gataka and Rongai areas will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Gataka Shopping Centre, Gataka Road, Wanugu Road, Nakeel School, Mayor Road, Maasai Mall, both Quickmart outlets, Hellena Road and Olemotondo Road.

Meanwhile, in Kisii County, electricity supply will be interrupted in parts of Gesusu, including Chibwobi, Ibanchore, Gesicho and Musa Nyandusi Secondary School.

In Uasin Gishu County, the outage will affect Chuiyat, Kaplamai, Tulwet, Biindura, Kapngetuny and Kaplanga areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Coast Region Customers to Face Six-Hour Interruptions

In Kwale County, the planned maintenance will affect areas around Diani Beach Hospital and Leisure from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Customers in Little Star, Bustani, Magagaja, Diani Beach Hospital, Leisure, Leopard, Absa and neighboring locations will be affected.

Mombasa County will also experience outages in parts of Shanzu and Kilima Road.

Areas around Bamburi Airstrip, Shanzu AIC Church, Shanzu Catholic Church, Mzungu Tiles, Breezes and Shanzu Stage will be without electricity during the maintenance period.

The interruption will also affect Kilima Road, Twiga Villas Estate, Harambee Estate, Simba Estate, Salama Estate, Nyali Plaza, Ores Estate and Oshwal Academy.

Kenya Power Advises Customers to Plan Ahead

Kenya Power has advised affected customers to make necessary arrangements and treat all electrical installations as live throughout the maintenance period.

The company regularly carries out planned maintenance works to upgrade power lines, replace aging infrastructure and connect new customers to the national grid.

Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to monitor Kenya Power communication channels for any updates regarding the scheduled maintenance works.
