Kenya Power has issued a power maintenance notice affecting selected areas in Uasin Gishu and Bungoma counties on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply.
The utility company said the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance and upgrades on the power distribution network, ensuring improved service delivery to customers.
Residents, businesses and institutions in the affected areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages.
Parts of Uasin Gishu County to Experience Eight-Hour Outage
In the North Rift Region, customers in parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience electricity interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Area: Merewet
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The affected areas include:
- Merewet
- Teresia
- Mumetet
- Kapnyongi
- Chepkongi
- Adjacent customers
Kenya Power indicated that the maintenance exercise is aimed at improving network performance and ensuring stable electricity supply in the area.
Bungoma County Areas Affected by Planned Maintenance
In the Western Region, two separate maintenance exercises will affect customers in parts of Bungoma County.
Area: Terem Power, Kapkateny
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

- Kimalewa Market
- Adjacent customers
Area: Lugulu, Munyikana
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

- Noah Wekesa area
- Lugulu

Customers Advised to Plan Ahead
Kenya Power has urged customers in the affected locations to plan their activities accordingly during the maintenance period.
The company noted that scheduled maintenance works are essential for improving the quality, reliability and safety of electricity supply while supporting future network expansion and customer connections.
Once the maintenance activities are completed, power supply will be restored to all affected areas.
