#KenyaPowerAlert: Planned Monday power interruptions to affect parts of Nyeri and Embu

Parts of Nyeri and Embu counties will experience planned power interruptions on Monday, January 19, 2026, as Kenya Power undertakes routine network maintenance.

In Nyeri County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Muruguru, Kiamuiru and Githiru areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Muruguru Secondary School, Muruguru Market, Kiamuiru, Githiru, SDA Muruguru, Satima Millers, Gikunjyu Martenity, Mugwathi Hotel and adjacent customers.

Also in Nyeri, power will be off in Ihururu, Mathari Hospital and Njoguini areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas to be affected include Mwenji, Nyamakuyu, Ngoru, Njoguini, Jua Kali, Miagayaini, Kanyinya, Muhoya, Thatha, Nyeri Hill, VOK Booster, Kanjora, Kimathi Secondary School, Burton, Mathari Hospital, Caritus, Kamwenja Teachers College, Mathari Shopping Centre, Nyeri High School and nearby customers.

EMBU

In Embu County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Rukuriri, Kyeni Hospital and Mufu areas from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Makutano Market, Kiaragana Primary School, Hon Karemba area, Kanja Market, Mary Goretti Girls School, Mufu Market, Kathageri Market, Kigumo Market, Mukuuri Market, Mbuinjeru Market, Kiaganari Girls, Kegonge Boys, Mikundu CDF, Kathunguri Market, Njeruri Market, Iriari Market, Kariru Secondary School, Gitare Secondary School and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power said the interruptions are necessary to allow for maintenance works and advised affected customers to plan accordingly.
