A quiet transformation is unfolding in the heart of Eldoret, where the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are leading the upgrade of the iconic Kipchoge Keino Stadium into a world-class sporting facility.
Assigned the project by President William Ruto, the KDF has brought structured execution to a venue that has experienced prolonged delays, accelerating works to restore one of Kenya’s most renowned sporting landmarks.
The modernisation project has now surpassed 47 per cent completion, with more than 200 builders, technicians and engineers working on site each day to keep construction on schedule.
Once complete, the upgraded stadium will meet FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards, positioning Eldoret as a key host city in Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the country will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
