Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance that will interrupt power supply in parts of 10 counties on Tuesday, July 28, with outages expected to last between two and eight hours depending on the location.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the utility company said the scheduled maintenance will affect parts of Nairobi, Machakos, Kisumu, Nyeri, Embu, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River and Taita Taveta counties.
Nairobi and Machakos among affected counties
In Nairobi County, power will be unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in sections of Eastleigh.
Areas expected to be affected include California Group of Schools, Friends Church, Waundo Street, Pumwani Hospital, First Avenue, Yare Plaza, Amad Plaza, Eastleigh Section 3 and neighbouring customers.
In Machakos County, customers in Kathiani and surrounding areas will also experience power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The outage will affect Ngelani, Mitaboni, Miumbuni, Kalikya, Lita, Thinu, Mua, Kyasila, Muthwani, Kaloleni, Kamuthanga, Kenol, Masokani and adjacent areas.
Kisumu, Nyeri and Embu to experience maintenance
In Kisumu County, electricity will be interrupted from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Chemalal area, affecting Chemalal Primary School, Kapkuong’ Market, Chemalal Village and nearby customers.
Nyeri County will have two separate maintenance exercises running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The first will affect Thangathi, Kiuu and Ithanji, including schools, markets and neighbouring villages, while the second will cover Mbiriri, Mapema, Jericho, Tagwa Mbiriri Village and surrounding areas.
In Embu County, customers in Kivwe, Kithimu and Gatunduri will be without electricity between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The maintenance will affect Kiangima Secondary School, Gatunduri Market, Kensam, Kithimu Market, Mwangaza, Manyatta TVET, Kinajuki, Kevote, Makengi and nearby customers.
Coast counties also affected
In Kwale County, planned maintenance between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. will affect Bonje Village, Mwache Dam, Bonje Bri, Kwale Investment, Njuca Ltd, Kokotoni Investment, Mwaroni, Rondwe, Magagaja and Diani Beach Hospital.
Customers in Kilifi County will experience outages during the same period in Marafa Market, Waresa, Garashi Market, Bate, Bura, Krystline Gongoni, Mwembe Resort and neighbouring areas.
In Mombasa County, electricity will be switched off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. along Kilima Road and Khadija Estate in Nyali.
The maintenance will affect several residential estates, businesses and institutions, including Twiga Villas Apartments, Harambe Estate, Fair Deal Plaza, Khadija Estate, Total VoK, Affordable Housing VoK, Gichanga Estate, Frere Town, Oshwal Academy, Nyali Plaza, Village Estate and parts of Beach Road.
Tana River and Taita Taveta
In Tana River County, customers in Hola Town, Masalani Town and the Bura area will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The outage will affect Hola Town, Masalani Town, Bura Fafi, Bura Tana, Charidende, Wenje and neighbouring areas.
Meanwhile, Taita Taveta County will have several maintenance exercises.
The first, running from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will affect Rekeke, Mata, Grigan, Orkungu, Jipe Market, Jipe Eco Lodge, Njukini Market, Chumvini, Chokaa Villages, Challa and Ziwani.
Two additional maintenance exercises scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. will affect Chakaleri, Landi, Mzwanenyi, Mwatunge, Msisinenyi, Singila, Wundanyi Town, Mbale, Shigharo, Mbengonyi and surrounding areas.
Kenya Power advised customers in the affected locations to plan ahead and treat all electrical installations as live throughout the maintenance period until power supply is fully restored.
