Kenya Power announces electricity interruptions in several counties, today

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in several parts of the country on Thursday, May 28, 2026, as the utility company continues with maintenance and network improvement works.

The scheduled outages will affect areas in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Nyeri counties for several hours during the day.

Nairobi areas to face power interruptions

In Nairobi County, Kenya Power said electricity supply will be interrupted in parts of Zimmerman, Gumba, Ngong Road and Naivasha Road between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected in Zimmerman include Car Wash Zimmerman, Seventh Day Adventist and nearby customers.

In Gumba, the outage will affect Gumba East, Mbinda and surrounding areas.

Along Ngong Road, the interruption will affect sections around Jockey Club, War Memorial Cemetery, Talanta Stadium, Dagoretti Corner, The Junction Mall, Bamboo Lane, parts of Riara Road, Naivasha Road, Kawangware Deliverance, Braeburn School, Rusinga School, Gitanga Road, Wanyee Road and adjacent customers.

Parts of Naivasha Road including Racecourse, Ngando, Chogi Road, Talanta, Kawangware Congo, Kabiria Road, Riruta Satellite, Riruta Police, Kabiria, Lepic School and nearby areas will also experience outages.

Uasin Gishu County affected

In Uasin Gishu County, the planned interruption will affect Bayete, Kerita and Burnt Forest areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Areas listed include Bayete, Kitingia, Cherus, Ndugulu, Kaptega, Kapsundei, Sengalo, Cheberer, Kapchorwa, Ndani, Ngarua, Kondoo, Kapkeno, Languse and surrounding customers.

Nandi County outages

Kenya Power also announced electricity interruptions in parts of Nandi County.

The outage will affect Arwos and surrounding areas including Cheribisi, Arwos Center and St. Roberts Arwos between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.

Nyeri County also affected

In Nyeri County, areas including Mweru, Ngamwa and Karaba will experience power interruptions from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Customers in Mweru C/Fact, Kinuri, Ngamwa, Karaba Dispensary, Mahuri Farm, Mutonga, Kabuta Market, Kigetuini, Kimathi, Rutune Primary, Mitundu, Kangure, Kambwe, Kaini, Gumba Dispensary, Kariara Mawe, Geitwa and Kibuu are among those expected to be affected.

Kenya Power advises customers

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the maintenance period.

The company noted that the interruptions are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and improve electricity reliability in the affected regions.
