Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Uasin Gishu and Bungoma counties on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance and network improvement works.
The utility company said the scheduled outages are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability of electricity supply and improve service delivery to customers.
Uasin Gishu County
In the North Rift Region, customers in parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The outage will affect the Merewet area, including Teresia, Mumetet, Kapnyongi, Chepkongi and surrounding customers.
Kenya Power said the maintenance exercise will enable its technical teams to carry out essential works on the electricity network aimed at improving service stability in the area.
Bungoma County
In the Western Region, customers in parts of Bungoma County will also be affected by planned maintenance works.
The first interruption will occur in the Terem Power and Kapkateny areas from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include Kapkateny, Terem Power, Koroyowandet, Kimalewa Market and adjacent customers.
A second maintenance exercise will affect the Lugulu and Munyikana areas from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The outage will impact customers in Munyikana, Mwalimu House, Dinah, Santa Barbra, Malaha, Sirisia, Bujosi, Webuye Jaggery, Noah Wekesa, Lugulu, Misikhu, Wananchi, Lavington and neighbouring areas.
Customers Advised to Prepare
Kenya Power has urged residents and businesses in the affected locations to plan ahead for the temporary interruptions.
The company noted that the maintenance works are necessary to strengthen the power distribution network and improve the quality of electricity supply.
Customers have also been advised to treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period and to wait for official confirmation before reconnecting electrical equipment once supply is restored.
