Kenya Power announces power outages in Nairobi, Nyeri, Meru, Kisii and Nandi for 27th May

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity maintenance that will affect several areas across Nairobi, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Nandi and Kisii counties on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

The planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve power reliability and stabilize the national electricity network.

Nairobi areas to experience power interruption

In the Nairobi Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in parts of Loresho, Kyuna and Westlands.

Areas expected to be affected in Loresho include Thego Lane, Karibu-Inn, Kaptagat Road, Loresho Ridge, Kaumoni, Loresho Gardens, Coopers, KARLO, Lions, Loresho Ridge Estate, Shinyalu Road, Shinyalu Close, Mukabi Groove, Mukabi Lane, Shamba Cafe and Mandela Hostels.

In Kyuna, the outage will affect Kyuna Road, Kibagare Way, Loresho Ridge, Loresho Crescent, Loresho Groove, Loresho Lane, Thego Lane and Kyuna Crescent.

Parts of Westlands that will experience interruption include Brookside Drive, Grevillea Grove, School Lane, Muguga Green and Brookside Gardens.

Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties affected

In the Mt. Kenya Region, Kenya Power said electricity supply will be interrupted in parts of Nyeri County from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Affected areas include Gathumbi, Mathare, Eng. Maina, Ngari Junior, Ragati Primary School, Ragati Secondary School, Mathira Water and Sanitation Company, sections of Unjiru, Safaricom boosters and Airtel boosters.

Parts of Tharaka Nithi County will also experience outages between 8.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. in Kagutu and Kaanwa areas.

Customers in Kaguntu, Kaanwa Market, Chuka Vocational Technical, Mwanjate Market, Mbwiro, Kajuki Market and Njaina will be affected.

In Meru County, maintenance works will affect parts of Mikinduri and Kiguchwa from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Areas listed include Mikinduri Market, Mikinduri Girls, Githu, Kiguchwa Market, Irindiro, Ankamia, Amungaa and Ametho Boarding.

Nandi and Kisii counties also affected

In the North Rift Region, parts of Nandi County will experience electricity interruption in Arwos area from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Affected locations include Cheribisi, Arwos Center and St. Roberts Arwos.

Meanwhile, in South Nyanza Region, Kenya Power announced planned maintenance in parts of Kisii County from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include Nyakoiba, Ibencho, Nyansara, Openda, Eburi, Nyamasege, Kiagware, Nyaimera, Nyansakia, Ekona and Yonduko.

Kenya Power advises customers to plan ahead

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the maintenance period.

The utility company noted that the scheduled works are necessary to facilitate network upgrades, maintenance of power lines and improvement of electricity reliability across the affected regions.

Customers were also advised to treat all electricity lines as live during the maintenance exercise.
