Kenya Power has opened applications for its September–November 2026 industrial attachment programme, offering continuing students an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience while developing skills needed for future employment.
The electricity distributor announced on Monday that the three-month attachment programme is part of ongoing efforts to support youth empowerment by exposing students to real-world work environments across different departments within the company.
According to Kenya Power, successful applicants will undertake full-time industrial attachment between September and November 2026.
Who is eligible to apply?
The attachment programme is open to continuing students enrolled in accredited learning institutions who are pursuing Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma and selected Craft Certificate programmes.
Students pursuing Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma courses from both technical and non-technical disciplines are eligible to apply.
For Craft Certificate applicants, Kenya Power is only accepting students enrolled in:
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power Option)
- Mechanical/Automotive Engineering
- Building and Civil Engineering
- Plumbing
However, the company clarified that there are no attachment opportunities for Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-related courses during this intake.
Applicants must also be available for the full three-month attachment period and provide an official introduction letter from their institution.
Additionally, all applicants must have valid personal accident insurance covering the entire duration of the attachment.
Reference numbers for applicants
Kenya Power has assigned different reference numbers depending on the level of study.
Applicants should use:
- KP1/ATTGRAD/26/3 for Bachelor’s Degree programmes.
- KP1/ATTDIP/26/3 for Diploma programmes.
- KP1/ATTCERT/26/3 for eligible Craft Certificate courses.
The company urged students to ensure they quote the correct reference number when submitting their applications.
How to submit an application
Interested students are required to submit their applications online through the Kenya Power website under the Public Information section before accessing the Career Opportunities portal.
The company has also provided an online application manual to guide applicants through every stage of the process.
Kenya Power emphasized that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
It also warned applicants against canvassing, stating that any attempt to influence the recruitment process will result in automatic disqualification.
The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, July 27, 2026.

The utility company said the attachment programme is designed to give students practical exposure that complements classroom learning while preparing them for future careers.
Kenya Power also reaffirmed its commitment to equal employment opportunities, encouraging all eligible continuing students to submit their applications before the deadline.
The company noted that industrial attachment provides students with valuable experience, professional mentorship and an opportunity to understand workplace expectations before joining the job market.
Other public sector opportunities also open
The announcement comes as several government agencies continue recruiting staff and interns across different sectors.
Among them is the National Legal Aid Service (NLAS), which recently advertised dozens of vacancies ranging from senior management positions to legal, finance, administration, human resource, ICT and support staff roles.
The agency is recruiting for both permanent and pensionable positions as well as fixed-term contracts for selected grades, with applications expected to close in August.
With public institutions continuing to advertise employment and training opportunities, students and job seekers are being encouraged to monitor official government websites and recruitment portals to avoid missing application deadlines.
